The Library is open
Inspiration and design process.
I should know by now that if it's the weekend, I will try to squeeze as much time as I can into building the website. Today, that was probably around 5 hours. I did A LOT, which you can read in the changelog.
This post is dedicated to the library, formally known as the RESOURCES page.ยน
Semantics
As I pondered how I would eventually add a section for books and movies, it dawned on me that this page was becoming a library. "Resources" is a general term, whereas "library" specifically points to a curated collection of resources.ยฒ
Inspiration
I design while I code, so yesterday's iteration felt more like a skeleton, where I was laying out the groundwork. Previously, I just had the documentaries list, and stylized articles and media (formerly labeled "references") in the same way.
Until I created A BOOK.
That's all CSS. How far I've come!
From there, I immediately launched back into my maximalist ways. Now each list has a different design, but the inspiration is that I'm a detective and this is how my desk looks right now.
I've already future-proofed it to be mobile-friendly, so now I just need to add more media! I'm glad I got a lot done this weekend because I might not have as much time next weekend.
1. I'm still keeping it as "resources" in the URL just in case I change my mind again, but I feel like that won't happen. So for best practice I should update it there too, right?
2. On that note, I think I will painstakingly correct the term in the url and update all the links. Ah well, gotta stay consistent!
